Our Story
Living in Peru, I was surrounded by colour and artistry. High in the Andes, I discovered frazadas, handwoven wool textiles filled with life, tradition, and extraordinary skill. These were not simply decorative pieces. They were woven stories created by artisans who had learned their craft from generations before them.
When we moved back to Canada to raise our children, I felt the contrast. I loved our home here, but I missed the richness, the warmth, and the soul woven into everyday life in Peru.
So we began bringing pieces back with us.
At first, they were just for our own home. Then for family and friends. Slowly, a business was born.
Llama & Home brings together our two worlds. It reflects my love for design and storytelling, my husband’s cultural roots and creative eye, and my sister-in-law’s trained design background and close relationships with our artisans and providers in Peru. She works directly with them to source, develop, and honour each piece we bring to Canada.
Together, we blend tradition with modern living, bringing authentic handwoven textiles into Canadian homes that want more than decor. They want meaning.
This is not mass production. It is heritage. It is skill. It is family. It is our way of sharing the beauty we fell in love with.
The Artisans
Today, we collaborate directly with Peruvian artisans who continue the traditions passed down through generations.
Each piece is handwoven using 100% natural alpaca and sheep wool, dyed with pigments drawn from the earth. Every thread carries a story, of families, of community, of heritage kept alive through the art of weaving.
Our collections are designed slowly and consciously, blending the warmth and spirit of Peru with the simplicity and comfort of contemporary Canadian homes. Every pillow, throw, and rug we create is a bridge between worlds, crafted to bring texture, meaning, and a touch of colour to modern living.
